The older we become the more precious our photos and the memories they represent become. I never realized how true this was until this past year when I requested photos from family members and compiled a DVD album containing over 1500 of the collected images. The majority of the photos had to be scanned and some of them digitally restored. The completed album was well worth the time and effort it took to make. We can now sit back in the comfort of our recliners/sofas and watch years of memories, accompanied by wonderful music, on our TVs.
The most rewarding part of this endeavor was to observe the younger generation of our family become completely absorbed in their family history. Many of the pictures were of relatives they had never met but had heard stories about from their aunts, uncles, and grandparents. What a treat!! And to think, each of them now have a copy of the DVD album to keep for their children, and their children's children to watch! Such a wonderful way to preserve these precious family memories for generations to come.
The image on the right is of my grandparents, Sarah Jane and Stuart Rose. The original photo was taken approximately 1920. It's one of my favorite "vintage" family pictures.
